The process is part of a routine maintenance program necessary to maintain the integrity of the water system allowing us a continue to deliver the highest quality water possible to our customers.
Your water is safe to drink. Fire hydrant flushing is preventative maintenance. There may be a temporary drop in water pressure during testing periods and occasionally, water becomes discolored after hydrant flushing. Village personnel will do everything in their power to keep these conditions to a minimum.
If you experience discoloration in your water after lines have been flushed in your area, clear the pipes in your home by running your cold water faucets for a few minutes. We recommend using the tub or outside faucet. If it does not clear the first time, wait a few minutes and run the water again. If the water has not cleared after several hours, call the Village at 231-882-9981.
You should avoid washing clothes until the water clears.
